The State of New Hampshire appoints the Harbormaster for the Exeter area. The appointment is based on input from towns in the service area.

The Exeter Harbormaster oversees moorings and anchorage at Exeter's town landing and the Newfields town landing.  There are 19 active moorings at the Exeter town landing site. Twenty moorings comprise the Newfields town landing.

Mooring permit fees are typically $7 per foot of vessel length. If  vessel is 20 feet long, for example, the mooring permit fee is $140.00. Mooring permit fees are assessed for the initial permit application and reapplications. The mooring wait list fee is $5 per mooring field or mooring subfield.
